Gas oil ratio question

Is a 32:1 ratio richer in oil than a 50:1 mix. I have been putting 32:1 in my weed eater that I have had for 5 years and then I recently Bought a blower of the same brand and it said to use 50:1. I dug up my manual for the trimmer and it says use 50:1 also. I am guessing that in a 32:1 ratio there is 32 parts gas for 1 part oil and in a 50:1 ratio there is 50 parts of gas to one part of oil.

Am I right?

Yup -- the higher the ratio the less oil there is in relation to fuel.

Check your manual for the type of oil to be used. It's probably a semi-synthetic/high performance oil, not the standard 2 stroke oil you mixed at 32:1.

Re: Gas oil ratio question

i've been using my standard 50:1 premixed outboard fuel for my blowers and weedeaters for years, yes, i know it is technically wrong. but no problems.
