Can't be that you're running too much oil - you should be running 24:1 through that engine. But running 50:1 won't cause the problems you're describing.
Use 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil.

FWIW, I'm betting ignition problems too... If your engine is missing it'll throw a lot of oil and gas.

Re: gas/oil to rich?????

do you know is there anything eletrical under the fly wheel or in the top of the motor???
im thinking i have a grounded short in the distrubtor but i cant find it. ive checked the whole thing. do you think the 2 wires off the coil could be hooked up backwards? or would that just burn the coil up? can the shop test the distrubtor to see if there is a short? thanks for the help sorry to bother

I'm afraid I know pretty much zip about the V4s. But I'm pretty sure the magneto is totally independant and there is nothing at all up under the flywheel.

You really need a manual, Bill.

You seem to know just enough to make a lot of pain for yourself without it.

Good luck. :)

yeah i agree i do need a manual but when i have to wait 4 weeks its hard to just put it down i know i am real close today i got it running on all cylinders, strong in the "yard" but still the smothest and best ive heard it run. by the way there was a short in the distrubtor i fond it on the wire to the points (ground wire on the coil i think) any way it was arking to the case were the dis scer connects it to the points and condinser 2 cent ruber groumet fixed it im going to try it tomarrow. its still blowing two stroke exzast smoke not much though, the oil in the water of the bucket is all most none a little 2 rich on gas mix gas but a little smoke never hurt anybody
