Gas problem on 40hp Mercury Outboard

I have an 80's model Mercury 40hp Outboard and when I am running it at full throttle the gase pumper on the gas line will lose pressure causing the engine to stall. I have tried a different gas line and the problem persists. Please let me know what I can do to try to fix this problem. Thanks

Boat owner told me he replaced and repaired everything, then discovered a small filter screen on the bottom of the fuel pickup inside the tank (clogged).<br />Not too difficult to check the tank for sludge and clean/repair the screen.<br />Sounds like?<br />Good Luck!
