I just bought a 1970 yar-craft with a 65 horse power Johnson outboard engine. It has two of the old 6 gallon tanks. As you all know regular gas is no longer available. If I fill the tanks with 6 gallens of leaded gas what should I put in.

1 Pint of Johnson 2 cycle aditive in each can which would be a 50:1 ratio? What would a lead additive do> Should I also put in a lead additive or should I just run the unleaded gas with the Johnson additive only  ?

winamy,

Outboards do not require lead-never did. Lead was added to help in valve seat lubrication in four cycle engines.

Use a good quality TCW-3 rated oil and mix one pint to six gallons of 87 octane, 50:1.

Outboards also do not require higher than 87.
