gas question

I will getting my boating season started tomorrow finally! When I stored the boat I had only about a 1/2 tank of gas which I did treat but Startron but my question is-should I fill the tank on my way out so that I have half old but treat gas and half fresh gas? Or should I burn off most of the old gas first?
I have a 35 gal tank and will not need the whole tank for our outing tomorrow...
Thanks guys! Hope you are all getting on the water soon!

Re: gas question

the treated gas is good for up to a year if it was fresh when you put it in.. Its going to be as good as the fuel you would put in tomorrow.. I would go out and burn the fuel you have and fill with fresh when you need it

Re: gas question

my1stboat1-thanks for that! I did not know the gas would still be good for a whole year. It was put in around October so I should be fine then!
Thanks!

Re: gas question

Although the treated gas is probably fine, I always add a quarter tank or so of freash gas in the spring to dilute the stored gas a bit. Never had any problems in the 15 years that I've been doing it.

Re: gas question

if you can, siphon out a quart or so from bottom of tank and then again the middle.try not to shake boat.put gas into clear containers,if its clear and clean you should be good to go.You didn't say where you're from(does it freeze there) or how the boat sent the winter. lucky you to be getting on the water

Re: gas question

If you put the gas in and treated it in October, no problem. I would still fill the tank prior to going out on the water. Coming home with plenty of gas left in the tank is always a good thing...

Have a great time!!!

Re: gas question

I live in Jacksonville, FL. Does not get super cold in the winter, just a few below freezing nights here and there. The boat spent the winter tarp covered between my house and the neighbors...technically the boat sits about 4 inches from the house!!
