I am trying to put a shut off valve on my gas line and was looking at them today. I observed the reduction in size at the valve itself and was wondering if this would affect the performace of fuel getting to the engine.
Any ideas?
FYI this would be placed after the gas filter correct?

just put the shut off where you can get at it in a hurry....before ...after....it doesnt matter...it is an emergency switch imho...

it depends on the size ot the reduction.....if you have a carbed boat....it has float bowls to fill and you will probably fill the bowls before you starve the engine.

Ayuh,... Most boats run a 3/8" gas line,+ any valving should be of the Same size...

Go to your local boat dealer and ask for the correct valve. If your at a home center looking at brass ball valves you will see the inner diameter is much smaller than the pipe size.

That is correct and why I posted. I found a shutoff that would work but the ball valve was reduced about 1/2. the engine is carbed so I should be alright. I will also check with a local marine $$$$ place as well and compare.

Thanks
