gas spill please help

Hi guys new to the site and boating period i have a small tri hull with an outboard last night I left both tanks of gas on boat full, one of the tanks must have got preasurized and leaked out my carpet is soaked i manualy sucked all the gas out of the boat but the smell and the carpet what should i do

I've found scrubbing the area with a little laundry detergent , a good rinse and vacuuming with a shop vac gets 90% of the smell and 100% of the oil out. Time gets the rest of the smell.

Great advice from rockyrude after that try spraying fabrezze.

thanks guys my dads buddy told me to buy kitty litter and after scrubbing it put the cat litter all over it and let it sit i worked great and then i shop vac it and fabreezed it. I am very happy with the results
