Re: GAS/STABILIZER

The only time you need stablizer, is when you are not going to run for an extended period of time, say 1 month, but it essential for winter storage.Just follow the ratio directions on the bottle.

I use a product called Seafoam that is a stabilizer as well as a fuel system cleaner and decarbonizer. I add some to every tank! :)

I use Seafoam as well. When I run my boat I use it a bunch so I never have old gas in there. Usually I run seafoam thru 3 times a season. Spring, middle of summer, and late fall. As has been said if your baot is going to sit, you need it. Otherwise I think running often with good fuel has worked well for me..

Yeah but....If you aren't sure how long the boat might sit, (2-3 wks) then does it hurt to put the stabil in every tank????

Re: GAS/STABILIZER

Would it hurt? Nope. But if you're going to routinely add something to the fuel, use a product with more going for it than a simple stabilizer. I like Seafoam, but Pennzoil makes a marine fuel additive, and I'm sure there's lots of other flavors out there. I like Sta-Bil just fine, but if Brand X will also decarbon and clean the fuel system while it stabilizes, why not use Brand X?

Try using the search forums link above and type the keyword in stabilizer. There are some other great discussions about it from previous posts. Good luck.
