Gas Tank for Lowe 1648M

I recently picked up a new holdover 2006 Lowe 1648M. I have outfitted her with a 1994 Mercury 25. The problem is my 6 gallon Moeller portable fuel tank doesn't fit between the transom and the rear bench. The tank is too wide. The diminsions of the 3 gallon tank would fit, but I would really like more capacity.

Is my only option going with the smaller tank and carrying around a gas can? Or does anyone know of a portable tank that's less than 12 inches wide with higher capacity? My only current idea is to notch a recess out of the rear of the bench, but I really do not want to do that. Any other suggestions?

extend your gas hose and put the tank up front, it will also help to balance the boat like that.

I had a smaller jon and did that and it worked really well, how often do you go up front in the boat?
