I have a 1988 Century Fury with a 120HP inboard. The fuel gauge is not showing any fuel in a full tank. I have checked the gauge and it is working. A prior owner put a new floor and carpet in the boat years ago and closed in the fuel tank. I believe the tank is just forward of the engine compartment between the seats. Is this correct, how many gallons does it hold and can anyone provide a drawing of the floor layout?
Thanks

Agree with Smoke on this one, if the other guy put in a new floor and enclosed the fuel tank, odds are he switched out tanks from the original at the time he did the work. I ran into the exact same thing on my boat. Only way to now exactly is to find the tank and the labels. Sounds like you will need a new sending unit anyway so you should be able to check the label on the tank when you replace that. Just follow the fuel lines from the engine to where they go through the floor and you will be on the right track. Cut carefully or you may be replacing the tank.

Thanks guys. I tried pulling back the carpet (which was glued ) from the area just ahead of the fuel line coming from the tank into the engine compartment. What I found was some form of a white very rough plastic that is covering the tank. I only opened up a small ( 2 sq inches) area, between the engine compartment and the floor blocks for the doghouse. If I can't get to the tank no sense in ruining the carpet. Not until I get enough information to know what I need to do.
Does anyone know how to get to the fuel sender on this particular model of boat?
Thanks

The fuel sender is mounted on the tank. Follow the wires on the gauge, odds are they will lead you to the fuel lines and back to where you started. There will be two wires that go all the way to the tank. If you want to change out the sender, I am afraid that the tank will have to be uncovered.
