Hello I need a gas tank for my 1970 evinrude 6 hp outboard motor 6002b. does anyone know if I need a metal tank or can I use plastic? I have a pressured gas can for a 57 18 hp motor can I convert it over to work on my 6 hp?
thanks John

Nope, standard single line tank is what you need with the appropriate fittings and fuel line.

This would do...

Tank;

Fitting;

People are always looking for those pressure tanks and I think they can be worth some money. Definitely don't change it over! A standard plastic tank from Wal-Mart with a Johnson/Evinrude fitting on it will work great for you.

Re: gas tank

Yeah, I get tired of hearing that. I bought three of them for $2 each. That was $1.95 each more than they were worth, with all the rust and varnish buildup. But they had fuel connectors on them, which are worth $30 apiece. Anybody that sells a good clean tank with the connector for $10 is a fool. And then (ahem) how about the guy that passes it up? No reflecton on you, though
