Gasket adhesive Recommendations

I'm going to change my Regulator/Rectifier this weekend on my 1990 GT-100 and the assembly is water cooled. I'm just wondering what the latest and greatest gasket sealer everyone is using? I've traditionally used Indian Head Gasket Shellac or Permatex but figured I'd get some opinions first. The OMC manual suggests their brand of course.

A lot of marine gaskets go on dry. If OMC recommends an adhesive, I would use it or an equivalent. There are aftermarket equivalents for the OMC lubricants and gasket dopes.
