I am preparing to winterize my VP SX the service manual tells me to use Gasket sealant on pretty much every oring and also on the bellows lips. What do you recommend for gasket sealant ?

Re: gasket sealant

Any quality gasket sealant will work. Bellows adheasive is what I use.
You understand that you don't need to take everything apart apply the sealant and reassemble it for winterization right?

Yes I know that the bellows replacement is not necessary for winterization. It is just time to do them so I thought while I had the drive off to lube the joints I would keep going and do the bellows.

That's what I figured, but you don't have a lot of replys, and sometimes the aftermarket manuels can be kinda' vague, It was not my intent to offend.

No offense taken and thank you for the reply. My manuals are actually the factory manuals but since they are joint venture books and call for an OMC part number for the sealant. I was wondering if there is a aftermarket compatible sealant, or maybe I just need to research the VP equivalent.

Westmarine carries Quicksilver brand bellows adhesive P/N 92-86166Q 1.
Hi quailty, sticky stuff. Keep the lid on tight and you will never have to buy another tube. It's specifically made for rubber sealing applications.
