why does omc want you to use gasket sealer on the prop shaft when re-installing the prop. i used wheel bearing grease-should i re do it with gasket sealer -if so why?
I was told 2 reasons,1)seal the surfaces from water and 2)help with electrolis from dissimilar metals under water,I alwas and advise the sealer ,grease may help it work out
Never heard of using gasket sealer, but BRP Triple Guard Grease or any high quality waterproof grease is OK. The reason is simple ... do you ever want to get the prop off again? In salt water it needs to be done every year.
