gasket set 153ci

Hello, I'm having the head redone on a 77 153CI. mercruiser inline 4. When having heads done on a car I would allways buy a "valve grind set" that included all the gaskets needed to re-assemble. Are marine sets sold like this, or do I need to buy all top end gaskets separately. I looked on the iboats site but only found single gaskets, no complete sets.

Ayuh,.... Talk to yer Machinist, he can get ya the "Kit" ya need... ;)

REDONE is the operative word in your request. If the shop is REDOING the head, you need a top end or valve grind set as you indicated. If by REDOING you mean the shop is rebuilding the engine then you need an OVERHAUL set which includes everything to button the engine back up again.

Just having a simple valve job done by my local NAPA auto store. I gave them all the specs from the manual for the cylinder head. I did the head removal and will also be doing the re install. They said they don't carry marine gaskets. I was looking for a top end set but I can only find single gaskets. Anyone have a sorce for the top end set?

Ayuh,.... Napa part number 18-1274 is the Head set,...

Catalog # MSP-8, page 435....
