I have a 1984 25hp. Merc. This morning I noticed that gasoline is mixed with water coming out of the pee-hole. Where should I begin looking for the problem? What could possible be causing this? Thanks.

Its flooding most likely, could be a carb problem, stuck float etc. If you give a better disrciption, of how it happens, maybe we can offer a better answer.

After spending more time at home, I discovered when I squeeze the fuel line bulb, the gasoline squirts out from the bottom of the fuel bowl located underneath the carb. According to my manual, there is a float inside the bowl along with a fuel line needle. Could it be on of these two things? Thanks - And I laughed at the joke.

I am not actually familar with your motor, but it could be the float is not set right, it shouldn't be a needle valve, etc. Other than the fuel you noticed, is there any other issue with the motor?

The pee hole you refer to, is that the tube where water pumps out when it's running or are you looking at another drain hole? Is the engine running when you see the fuel?

fuel is probably running out around the (pee hole.) It cant come out thru the hole with the water. look for fuel leaks ( carb flooding, cracked fuel line) should be easy to spot.

Re: gasoline coming from pee-hole

Thanks guys, at first glance at the launch it appeared gasoline was mixed with the water coming out the tell-tale. After spending more time over the weekend, I discovered that the gasoline was squirting out from underneath the float bowl when I would squeeze the fuel line bulb. I took the carb off then took off the float bowl. There is a cork gasket between the float bowl and carb. It appears worn and soft. The float itself appeared good. I ordered a new float bowl gasket and carb gasket. Before I put it all back together, it there anything else I should check or consider? Thanks.

The water jacket and the combustion chambers on an engine are totally separate from each other and it is impossible for raw fuel to exit the tell tale unless there is a blown head gasket or cracked block which would allow raw fuel to get into the water jacket and then expelled from the tell tale. In either case the engine would not run worth a hoot. Is it possible you or someone else worked on this engine and simply have some hoses connected incorrectly??
