gauge hook up

i have a 70 hp evinrude outboard=and i would like to put an amp guage on = can i do it and where can i find how to hook it up <br />jim

Hi Jimmyp, Most outboards have volt gauges which can be wired up easily. The pos going to a hot wire off your keyed switch and the neg going to ground. <br /> I'm prertty sure you could wire in an amp gauge. It would probably have to be wired off the rectifier. <br />Put this over in the engines and motors section for better results.<br /><br />Good luck :)

JimmyP, Not sure about Evinrude, but recently bought Merc shop manual (35.00) plus shipping, it shows in detail how to wire various gauges. This manual is direct from Mercury, but after market manuals may have these diagrams also. Good luck! Leaner

go to the teleflex web site (add .com to the name) and look under the tech electrical side.. I found a pdf file there about how to wire in an ammeter.. <br /><br />rgds<br /><br />frank
