O.k... On a 1988 Donzi, OMC 350, 5.7L. When the motor is running all my guages flicker... I mean, they register, and show close to where they're supposed to be, but, the flicker back and forth a hair. Like the voltage meter hits around 14, and jumps quickly back and forth from 12... The oil pressure gauge, fuel, and even the tack all do this simultaniously... Why is that, maybe a bad voltage regulator????...

Re: Gauges flicker

Howdy,

You clearly have a poor connection somewhere in the boat. Either at your fuse block (where you may have a corroded fuse) or one of the ground connections is corroded.

It could also be at the battery, either plus or minus connection, the solenoid, or at the multi-pin plug on the engine.

You will have to check nearly every connection.

Regards,

Rick

Ayuh,... I'd start with wiggling the big cannon plug that connects the Boat to the Motor...
Then all the Motor's Grounds....

Re: Gauges flicker

I have had a few boats do that.It was always a ground issue...

After checking what the other guys said if you still have a problem run a ground from the battery to the dash and check it..
All the gauges are linked with ground wires so it should be an easy test..
