I am honestly not trying to stir anything up here, and I'm sure you all know how I feel about this, so I'll be brief.<br /><br />We all have sin in our lives that we battle privately. I am sure there are preachers and priests out there who hide everything from alcoholism to child porn on their computers. We are all human, no matter how righteous. It is not our job to judge and condem our fellow man for his sin, but just as Paul warned the church at Corinth, the church must set higher standards for the behavior of it's members and leaders and never condone such apostasy as this by promoting this man. In my eyes, promote the man and promote his sin since he is "openly" gay. How can he be trusted to teach the Word, when he openly flaunts his behavior that is an abononation to God? Am I missing something here?

Well, how 'bout this. I belong to three churches. An independant southern baptist, a nondenominational and a full-gospel pentacostal. The baptist church preaches against homosexuality as though it were an unforgiviable sin, so there are no homosexuals that would set foot inside there to hear the Word. The Pentacosal church doesn't mention the gay issue much, in fact I have not heard them preach on the issue at all, and there are homosexuals in there that may not know what the bible states on the subject. The nondenominational church has homosexual members, but they preach on the sin of such behavior, as they preach on all topics of sin, but do not judge and condem the sinners, as we will all be accountable for our own sins. At least in that church homosexuals (men and women) feel comfortable to come in and hear the whole Word taught so they can make up their own mind about how to personally serve God and what sins they wish repent.<br /><br />Acording to the bible being gay is no worse a sin than adultery....or murder for that matter. Committing sin doesn't preclude one from salvation; but certainly should preclude one from being promoted to Bishop. Whats next, rapists and murderes? I would rather have a truely repentant murderer for a preacher than a nonrepentant homosexual explaining Gods Word to me.

it's so hard for me not to explode over this. are guys for real? you're about as wrong and immoral as the slave owners were. talk about discrimination at its highest form. again, i don't support the lifestyle, hell i'm in the miliatry. but i do know people that chose to be gay. they are not weirdos or strange. actually, quite intelligent, responsible people. to try and link the churches decision to the spread of aids and child molestation is ridiculous. i'll refuse to comment further, as i can't handle ignorant morons.<br /><br />i expect iboats to delete this thread and not allow discussion like this. this is as bad as if i started making racist comments.

It is not a choice to be Gay. It took me several years to discover who I was. I am gay and proud of it. I DO not go flaunting it. I do not Look down on it. I am who I am. And when I read crap like this.. I am simply outraged at the ammount of ignorant people are in the world. Being gay has noting about the spread of HIV/AIDS. The whole world is suffering from it. ALL RACES.. All walks of life. Dont point it at something you fear and dont understand. As far as being religous. The Bible is no more than a book made up as a manual. A guide to know how to be good to one another. How to act. Its a manual for you dumb s**ts that cant think for your self. And God is no more but someone to blame your problems on because you wont fess up and face your own sins.. Its allways "GOD'S WAY" God has noting to do with it. You have a problem, you have an issue.. use some common sence and fix it. You all are smart enough to fix it. So do it.

Perhaps I was abit harsh. I am not about the gay bishop. Bad Idea for the gay population. Im just fed up with the ignorant comments and stereotypes. Ohh and if it makes you homophobes feel any better... We own boats too!!

This is not so much an issue of the sanctity or sin homosexuality, as it is about religion. Your opinion would much more meaningful if you were Episcopal, straight or otherwise. <br /><br />The bible is more to Christians than a handbook on how to be nice. It is the loveing perfect Word of God, telling us how to serve Him and conquer sin in our lives. I am sorry to hear that you do not know the Lord or His Word. <br /><br />Occasionally there are prayor requests made on this messege board. Of all of those that I have read, I am more moved to prayor by your post, that God would reveal Himself to you, that you could know His great love, His mercy. I love you Chads as a brother in Christ.

The post is more to let people know that we do exist. We are part of the world. just as any other race. Just sick of being attacked when we are feared. My views on religon is what i see of it. If thier was a god... then why war? why sickness? why do people suffer? Why are gay people put on earth? Sorry, Just not seeing the big picture I guess. I know enough to be good to one another. and I am quite "gay" with life.

Being openly gay or a closet gay is a life style<br />choice. If you have homosexual feelings and you<br />act on them that is your choice. When we are young<br />we sometimes experiment with our sexuality. If we<br />teach our children that boys having sex with boys<br />is a natural behavior, than down the road that<br />is what there sexuality will be attuned to.<br />No it is not natural, but special interest groups<br />are determined to make it so. <br />That is why at my youngest son's school they <br />are teaching that boys wanting to be with boys is<br />a natural behavior. Religion aside, that is why<br />we must oppose there views whole heartedly.
