I'm going to install a water pump kit in my E200TXEO. I have the OEM manual and it appears to be pretty straight forward. I've done a 150 Merc successfully but, this will be my first Evinrude. Any helpful hints? Special tools?

I believ your cowling pan is a 2 piece pan. Go ahead and split it and take it off before you start. Makes the shift linkage visible and much easier to re-attach when you put the L/U back on.

port side lower cowling comes off with 3/8" socket four bolts. then take the bolt facing you out of the shift linkage under the carb intake.

There is one bolt on the lower unit that is hidden. You have to take the trim tab off, then the bolt is visible from underneath. markthe position of the trim tab before removal.

I could be wrong but I think the shift rod disconnect on this motor is made by pulling the clevis pin out of the engine shift linkage and pushing the linkage in to release.

they did away with the pins these have a screw/hex bolt. makes the job a lot easier. the upper end of lower end shift rod is flattened out and is drilled to except the special thru bolt.

the threads on that special bolt are only on the port side of the shift linkage bracket near the head of the bolt, the rest of bolt doesn't have threads where it contacts with the lower shift rod or the other side of the bracket, it's just a pin
