gear lube capacity question

i've got a 1983 50hp 'rude...any idea how much lube i'll need for a thorough change???? thx... john

I have an '81 50 and I will get 2 quarts and fill one completely up with the other, screw it into the bottom hole and start squeezing, when it comes out the top hole it is full, put your top screw in first.

When you are done put whatever is left in the second quart and you are good for your next change.

Capacity is 22 ounces. You are bound to spill a little...............
