Gear Lube in 40HP Force Engine???

Hello everyone!<br /><br />Tis' the season for winterizing. Quick question....<br /><br />1) Should I change the gear lube in the lower unit of my 1993 40HP Force engine NOW or in the spring?<br /><br />2) How much lube will it take to refill? Thanks, just trying to determine how much to buy.<br /><br />~Phil

2 - You will need 12 ounces of lube, plus what you spill. <br /><br />1 - Change it now, in the fall.<br />Reason being, if there is any water in there from a leaky seal, you want to get it out before it freezes and cracks the lower unit or pushes the seals out.
