I recently noticed my gear lube res. empty pretty quickly after running. I've done a lot of reading on forums but have some questions. Keep in mind my drive unit does not have water in it.

1. Its leaking in bilge and noticed it, refilled. Then the 2nd time i was out I had more then usual water. almost like my drain plug could of leaked, or the water came from drive. The engine block is not leaking. Any thoughts? I thought maybe I was just bringing in water from water sport use... Is it possible to lose a seal from drive and allow gear lube oil and water in?

2. Can I still run the boat if I watch the oil res until i winterize where then i can repair the seal if thats the cause?

3. I made a dumb mistake and bought some cheap gear lube because we were out on the lake far from a place to get the quick silver gear lube. I applied that in there but could I of made the issue worse ?

Re: Gear lube in oil

Don't run it till you get it fixed. Pull the drive, sounds like you have gear lube and water in the bellows.
