Gear Lube Monitor Hose?

As part of servicing the bellhousing on my Alpha 1 Gen 2 Im replacing the water hose and the gear oil hose which runs between the transom and the bellhousing.

They have hose in an automotive shop which is actually bransed as petrol (gasoline) hose but the guy in the shop siad it would be no good for oil as oil was more agressive to rubber than petrol. Is this correct?

The hose looks otherwise OK, rubber reinforced and they have it with inside diameter 7 and 8 mm, one of which will be correct.

Oils & some components in them can swell certain rubbers. I would listen to the guy. That's likely what he was referring to. Are there any identifying markings on your existing hose? Sometimes the Mfg., rating etc. are printed right on the hose.
