cheeks

Don't use automotive type lube in your lower unit, as it will foam up and reek havok. Use "Hi-Viscosity" lower unit lube, available at Walmart, West Marine, Ect.(Lubrimatic) or of course, your dealer. Remove the upper vent screw and then the lower Drain/Fill screw. Let it drain for a while. Fill using the container nozzle in the BOTTOM screw hole until it flows out the top(Vent)hole. Install the vent(Top)screw first, then remove the nozzle from the lower hole and quickly install the screw. You will lose a bit, but that's OK. You're done! It is best to check the condition of the fluid while you're at it. If it looks "Milky" or the color of "coffee with cream" in it, you may have a leaking seal in the lower unit or the seals on the screws(More Likely) are bad. Always replace the screw seals(Washers or "O" rings) when you replace the fluid. Get the quart size if they have it or 2 tubes to be sure you have enough.
