gear oil

First time replacing gear oil on new engine 03 <br />vx150TLRB. Gear oil came out as bluish color. Called dealer (he changed the gear oil at 10 hr break in)and asked why different color than yamalube gear oil. Said we use Merc premium gear lube. My questions, should I continue with merc premium oil or yamalube? Does Yamaha send the gear case empty from factory and dealer pump the gear oil?

alexc,<br /><br />To my knowledge, many Yammy gear cases are built by Merc. (Brunswick).<br /><br />In my opinion, trust your dealer. Any high quality gear lube will serve you fine.

Id use,(and do)use a synthetic gear lube, Im going to say Amsoil because I know for sure that it will protect your lower unit better if you ever do get water in the oil! The price is not really a factor figuring the amount to fill a lower unit!!<br /><br />LubeDude
