Hey guys, I have a question Im changing lower end gear oil.I tilted motor up removed fill plug inspected it clean no metal removed vent plug. oil drained lowered motor let a little bit more out quit draining oil looked good clean no water no metal just didnt seem like there was much that came out. went to marine shop 5 min from house took bucket of oil with me.Asked them if it seemed like it was proper amount that came out.He said no told me to take 2 32 ounce bottles it will take one and a little out of the other bottle.Came home had motor in operating postion put pump hose in fill tube pumped it in stared to run out vent hole put fill plug back with new washer put vent plug back with new waser, looked at bottle on side where there is viewable ounce chart said there was 20 ounce left in bottle. so in my mind that would mean if it was a 32 ounce bottle and i had 20 ounce left after the fill i used 12 ounce correct? That is a huge difference from 32 plus ounce the mechanic told me they are a new shop that opened up about a year ago i get parts from them cus they are close a professinal football player from the cheifs not sure of name and a local guy here are supposed to be the owners and they have all young kids there cant be much over 24v 25 years of age just never felt good about what they tell me probably will just stop using them all togther now if it turns out all the gearcase holds is around 12 ounces the motor is 1994 mariner 50 hp 2 stroke 3 cylinder (not big foot) does this sound like that is enough oil any one know thanks for listening and any help
