Is there any way to tell what my Gear ratio is. I have a 1986 Alpha One but the numbers and ID have faded away. My owners manual lists two possibilities. 1.65.1 and 1.84.1 How can I tell which I have? I may have the serial numbers written down from years ago. I have tried to search online to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Ayuh,... Sure,... Mark the propshaft, put it in gear,+ bar over the motor 1 revolution....
Then look to see where the prop turned to...

Thanks Bondo O I just found it. 1.84.1 . It was stamped under the Mercrusier tag and barely visable. I had to get in the daylight just right to read it. I have looked on and off for a year and couldn't find it. The boat was sitting just right in the sun today. We haven't had many sunny days up here this year yet. Thanks again.

I'm trying to find mine as well, same drive 86 alpha one. Where should the number be located?
