gear ratio for 98' 115hp evinrude ficht?

Hello, i know the gear ratio for the v-6 is 1.86, is the v-4 the same? Trying to figure out some prop numbers and i can't find the gear ratio for this motor. Thank you for your help<br />Steve

According to my sources the 115 ficht has two different gear ratios.One is 12/27 or 2 1/4 revs of the crankshaft to 1 rev of the propshaft and the other is 13/26 which is 2 revs of the crank to 1 rev of the propshaft.You can easily see which one you have by placing the controls in gear and manually rotating the flywheel and counting the exact turns while observing the propshaft.That's the best I can do.

Is your motor a 20" or 25" version? What props have you tried?<br /><br />If you'll post some more info we can calculate the slip percentage.

thanks dhadley, don't want to make you do any more work than necessary though. It's for a friend of mine that already has a slip calculator, but he just doesn't know what his gear ratio is. <br />Steve

If he doesnt know the shaft length, get the model number. That'll tell.
