Gear ratio

Does anyone know the gear ratio on a 1992 40hp 2 stroke 4 cyl? Mercury model is 1040412MD

2:1, been that for decades on that engine

That is the ratio that an original gearcase for that engine would have

It was still 2:1 in the 1994 sales brochure.

It was probably the ratio of the last 44 in engine mercury produced in the mid to late 2000s
