I have an 88 Sea Ray with a 4.3L engine and Merc outdrive. I'm having an issue with moving the gear shift/throttle in and out of gear. Feels like its binding/sticking going into and out of both forward and reverse. Mostly in reverse. When I do get it to go in reverse, coming back to nuetral is a struggle and it gets caught right about where the shift interrupt switch is causing the engine to die. (Always starts right up) Does it just need to be lubricated or is the lower shift cable due for replacement?. I dont know how old the shift cables are, Im guessing at least 10 years old. They look good on the outside. Watched a video on making the adjustment so I will check that. Just need some help. Thanks.

UPDATE. Where has summer gone? So I took it in to get the lower cable replaced. All is good now. Boat is running like a Swiss watch.
