I hope someone can answer my question.

Will the lower unit/gearcase from a 1990 Evinrude 90hp( VE90TLESB ) bolt up to a 1983 Evinrude 70hp(E70ELCTE)?

I know that one is a V4 and the other is a 3 cyl and at first search.... the part numbers are different. But I also know that this does not mean they are not compatible.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks for confirming that Scott. Do you have an easy way to cross-reference parts compatible across various yrs/hps/models of outboards? I recently bought a nice boat with 1990 Evinrude 90 that overheated or got oil starved and had scored pistons and cyls and I am going to part out everything else that is still good.

Thanks
Tim

I frequently use the parts listings at one of the "other" sites, rhymes with goats dot net. If you click on a part number it will take you to a "where used" page. It doesn't cover everything, as it only works for motors that use that exact part number, but it does help broaden the search a bit. It helps include what it DOES fit, but does not necessarily exclude what it DOESN'T fit...

Scott... thanks that tip for goats.com is exactly what I need to give reference when selling parts.

Bob....Thanks for that thread link...when it comes to lower unit gear case reference it will be invaluable also.

I just love the internet.....it's not what you know...its who you know and the links on the internet that they have :)

Much Appreciated.
