gearcase interchange 225 johnson

has anyone run into installing a v4 looper 15 spline gearcase onto a 3.0 v6 motor? i've got a 1993 225 johnson ocean runner with a newly bent prop shaft, but a spare parts motor 2001 135hp v4 johnson (v6 15 spline case). the part #'s for the driveshafts are different, but look identical. any issues i may run into?

Gear ratio, driveshaft length and crankshaft spline length. The V-4 uses the V-6 gear housing with the V-6 high altitude gears (2:1)

so you are saying driveshaft height will be off? i've got props for days, so not worried about gear ratio. i do see the v4 and v6 looper driveshafts are the same part #'s for 2001... should be ok?

the odd thing is i've used 2 different lowers with 2 different lenght splines and both fit. once i have the 135's off, ill do a comparo.

Looks like the actual gearset is much lower for the V4 looper: 2.25:1 vs 1.86 for the V6. Any issues with the extra v6 torque on the v4 gears? i believe that would make the V4 gears physically larger, so shouldn't be too stressed correct?
