I'm about to install a water pump kit in my 200hpdi and it will be my first time (I used to do it on my last motor - a 90hp Merc).

Who uses what to support the gearcase while doing the work? Is it best to have it in the upright position? I was thinking of something like a couple of 2x4's across my sawhorses......someone must have a better idea. Thanks!!!

very carefully read the service manual on pump reassembly, ya dont want to be posting about a gear knock at idle :).
when you buy the kit go ahead and buy a lockring and collar.
50/50 chance you will have to cut off the original,
supports I wont touch, :) kinda like oils.

I just use 2 sawhorses. I rest the upright lower unit on the cavitation plate and it makes a convenient working height. Use a couple of clamps on the sawhorses to keep them snug on the lower unit.

When I read the manual and see the exploded view, I don't see a lockring and collar.....Rodbolt would you kindly let me know where on the assembly these are? Thank you!
