General question, does this engine lower unit have more than one gear in the lower end? Reason that I'm asking is that when I move it into gear, it engages cleanly, but then there is alot of play on the shifter that doesn't seem to do anything. I looked at the shifter cable, and it is working but doesn't do anything more once it's in gear. In another boat that I owned, the further I moved the shifter, the more the shift cable moved. My current boat does have a foot pedal for throttle control. The shifter does nothing for the throttle anymore.
