I recently purchased a gallon of gelcoat. Not sure why really, I had no solid plan for it. At first I considered setting up to learn how to spray it. My compressor is ancient and do not think it is up to the task.
The inside of my little boat's hull has allot of roving printing through the surface. I had considered covering it with CSM, sanding it smooth and painting it. (but then it occurred to me)
Can micro balloons (insert other sandable filler) be used in the gelcoat as a fairing compound? I have done it with epoxy and it worked fine but it was hard to sand. Will the gelcoat/ filler have enough bond to get me a good smooth surface over the roving?
You may be able to see in the picture what I am talking about. I want to cover the rough areas above the finished deck on the inside of the hull.
