Gel Coat - Polishing scratches on an otherwise 'good' finish

Ok guys, after a bit of searching, I still don't have a very firm answer.

I searched for products/methods to buff out a few shallow dock/rub scrathes on my hull. The rest of the color and shine is good, other than these few small scuffs.

What is the best way to take care of these few small areas?

My concern is that if I wetsand/polish/wax just these few areas, the rest of the gel-coat will not be quite as shiny. Am I stuck polishing the whole hull?

If so, what compounds are best for a 'almost new' shine?

Thanks
Shawn

If the repaired area does come out better than the area around it, you will need to buff the rest of the hull for it to look good, but there's not much hull area to buff on a Blue Wave. As for buffing compounds, some do work a little better than others, but most work well enough to get a good shine.

Ondarvr,

I was afraid of that...but, like you said, there isn't much surface area...and 99% of the area it does have is flat.

Now, if I can only find a place in town that sells gel-coat to spot repair the little chips on the bottom...

SQ

If you need a small amount of gel coat that is color matched to you boat, check out Specrtum Colors or GCP. Do a search with those names and you find their phone #s and web sites

Brasso works great for small scratches.

If you use an automotive compound the finish will have a semi-hazy look.
