I have a spider web crack about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. This is on a hull that is a high glossy white and no other imperfection on hull.I check this link out{http://www.diynet.com/diy/bo_maintenance_repair/article/0,2021,DIY_13718_2278093,00.html) and it seems like a lot of work for some simple hair line fractures. I tried a gel coat patch kit but that stuff sticked better to itself then to the boat.Is there anything else that I can try before drilling into my hull.

Re: Gel coat

There is no easy fix for this type of cracking, the cracks will go down at least to the glass and maybe into it. If it is not sanded down into the glass, built back up with glass and resin, then re-gel coated the cracks will just come back the next time it gets flexed. The area needs to be prepped (sanded) well for anything to stick to it, or like you said, it will just fall off.

And don't forget, after sanding, clean up the area with some acetone.
