A tad confused as to the proper technique to applying gel seal on the crankcase halves. Looks like i've been possibly doing it wrong all these year according to a 1982 manual i've come across as below. It's showing just dabbing the gel seal on each flange, and not all around the block. Doesn't make sense to me,as wouldn't it shim the halves apart and leak at the ends this way? I've always done a thin bead all around, and never had an issue. Also says to "oil labyrinth seals on block and case halves to prevent lockup from excess gel seal 2", which i never did either. Any thoughts on the correct way?
