gelcoat application

Just ordered a gallon of gelcoat from US Composits. I talked to there tech and he said to "just roll it on". I am assuming its not quite that simple.

I am in the process of finishing a floor replacement and will be gellcoating over polyester and glass (over kiln dried PT wood). Also I cut out and replaced a few soft spots elsewhere and am planning to roll some new gellcoat over some of the existing to feather out my repairs.

Any hints, DO's or Dont's with Gelcoat? i did a search and didnt find much.

Ayuh,...

Gelcoating is pretty much just like Painting in your application,....

The final product will be the result of your Preperation...

When your done feathering,+ sanding,... Mix it,+ Roll it on,...
Tipping with a brush may, or may not be necessary, so be prepared for it...

Gelcoat is about the same as working with a slightly Thick 2-pt. paint...
