I have a 78 Novacraft and have noticed a heap of small "bubbles" on the bottom of the hull about 8inches along from the transom. The boat had been pulled up and sat on grass for about 2 years. have I got a HUGE problem.

i thought you had to be an EN ZEDER to be a kiwiguy..??

yep,, you have a problem in a major way..

grind out an patch with a epoxy putty.. can be homemade .. '' THIN '' epoxy with fillers mixed in to make a putty..

but that's the easy part..!!

the ( possible ) rotten floor & stringers,, not so easy

Re: gelcoat blistering

I understand Uniflite yachts were originally made for combat. They used a special blend of fire retardent resins that later blistered, apparently almost all of them. There is hot debate whether or not this is actually a huge problem or something that can be written off as 'cosmetic'. I did a search on the subject and found both perspectives.
http://marinesurvey.com/yacht/blisters.htm

Re: gelcoat blistering

Thanks for the info Crab... I thought the worst. The boat has a cavity between the floor and the hull.. down the back seams a tad "spungy" in parts... If the stringers are rotten.. whats the worst that can happen... I have had the boat on the water just about everyday over the last few weeks and it seams to preform fine... Is the ass gonna fall off??.. lol
