Hi,

My outboard is after giving up the ghost on me and whilst I'm of the water getting that fixed I thought that I might as well not postpone my "winter project" anymore and have a go at replacing the transom and stringers in my boat.

i know that they neeed to be done so I suppose now is the ideal time to do it with the outboard off her. I might post my project up here but i really won't be going to the great lenghts that Frisco and co went to, therefore my fixes may not be to everyone's liking as funds are limited.

Anyway in researching what I need to do I also thought that i might also re-paint her a different color as the current one is chipped , scratched and I think a change of colour might make her look eevn better. The only problem is that afer abuse bby the PO the gelcoat is hass lumps out of it,gouges ,scratches etc (also I will own up to some of the scratching that's all though ). Now i filled in the problem areas with fillers and sanded it down but it doesn't fit in with the colour of the gelcoat. The gelcoat is origianlk but it's tinted a yellowish colour and I tried compound and buffing but it doesn't come up too well. So therefore I think a new gel coat is on the list or can I paint under the waterline with something the will suffice in it's place??
