Gelcoat scratches

Okay, I am an idiot. Hopefully this is easily fixable. I removed all of the decals on my boat using a hair dryer and lots of time. Unfortunately some of the decals and glue were difficult to remove. After being unable to remove it without force, I resorted to using a green Brillo pad. Of course I scratched the gel coat almost all the way around the boat. Does any one know if just rubbing compound will get rid of the scratches or is there a product that will get all of very fine scratches in the gel coat? Thanks for any help!

Yup, some rubbing compond and a polishing wheel will take them out if the gelcoat is in good enough shape. then wax it all up a couple of times.

For future reference Methyl Hydrate or Mineral Spirits will remove those decals without damaging the finish, even on fibreglass. That's what I used on all my motorcycles. Be aware that Methyl Hydrate has highly flamable fumes.
