Gen 1 to Gen 2 control

Hi, has anyone gone Gen. 1 to Gen 2 on the mercruiser 4000 control. on the old Gen. 1 from the grip to the trim pump it ran 4 wires (red, blue, green, purple) Now Generation II 4000 control runs 3 wires trough (red, green, blue on the grip to red, green, purple at the pump) any hints on this, I can not figure out how to make it work.

That was the first combination I tried and doesnt work

red should have 12v all the time, jumping it to green should operate the pump. verify that it works by jumping the connections.

BT thanks for the responses, let me explain correctly, I might have not, sorry. The original like the schematic is 4 cables from control to pump, The new Gen 2, is only 3 cables from the control to the pump. Im sure, Im doing this wrong at some point.

do you have #21 or #22? The 4 wires in the harness from the trim pump are red 12v , blue up, green down, purple trailer
the 3 wires in the control box are red ,blue, purple
blue is not used because it is the up circuit controlled by the limit switch, purple(trailer mode) is used instead
does the pump operate using a jumper in the 4 wire plug red to blue and then red to green see page 5A-61 in that next link
