Gen II vs Gen I

New merc Gen II throttle.
Can it be used for my Gen I setup on my '79?

I've noticed there is not brass barrell on this one.

You'll need new cables too. They attach inside the remote like universal SAE cables, but the anchoring slots are beefier. You can only get them thru Merc. There is no aftermarket equivalent ... yet.

My existing cables in the boat right now are good. Am I able to use those?
