Gen VI 454 interchange

So i’m in the process of replacing a cracked block on my gen VI and was wondering what block i can use, i’m told a gen V is the same but can’t use mechanical pump? Mines EFI so i’m not worried about that, also i’m having trouble finding my cast number to even verify my block. Doesn’t have the stamp above the water pump like it’s supposed to have.

Casting is below the distributor on the rear of the block

Gen V and VI are similar, however the Gen VI is a better block

plenty of Gen VI cores in 1996-2000 2500 and 3500 trucks
