I personally believe its easy for a RETIRED Lt. Col. to throw stones. I'm sure during his career he didn't make it a point to criticize his superiors, so how can he judge someone else?

As for the comment that we are making tons of George S. Pattons.....that's not a bad thing. Eisenhower may not have liked how Patton handled the political side of the war, but he knew Patton is what we needed to lead the charge. Germans weren't scared of Bradley or Eisenhower....they were scared of Patton.

Radical islamists live by the sword.....we need to keep our swords sharp and make them die by it.

Good point SR. That said: I've read Col Peters for years and have found him very good, and profoundly credible. He is a both a historian, and a profound critical thinker and has a cornsiderable following of readers with his articles n' best selling books. It is only a retired military person that has attained some level of rank that could ever be soooooo candid. I value his insights as much as anybody's. He does not seem to pull punches, and has a clear eye on history. Many of his reads are like a cold shower, (as this one is). Don't know that I completely agree with him all the time, but I do respect his points and perspectives and always take them under cornsideration.
