I am looking at a 20HP Evinrude (1975). It has a generator socket, but is not electric start. Is this a 12V outlet? Will it charge a trolling motor battery? I'm new to outboards- this 1 owner motor looks like new.. good motors, that vintage?
Thanks!

can ya get a pic or tell us where the wires go?
there was an AC lighting kit that with the addition of the rectifier could be used to charge a 12v battery.

here's the socket:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y184/hystat/4b235e80.jpg
the yellow wire runs from socket over to this terminal strip:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y184/hystat/evinrude004.jpg
here's the decal on the hood:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y184/hystat/evinrude002.jpg

beside the socket it says "do not disconnect while running"... not sure if that means the socket, or the fuel line..
tks.!

looks like the AC lighting coil option. it provided AC current to power running lamps. do you see anything that looks like a rectifer between the wires coming out from under the flywheel to the plug
