My 3000 Martinique has a Kohler generator and the power panel has a switch that allows you to turn on the blower. The switch on the panel will not turn on my blower but the blower switch at the helm does. How would this switch arrangement work? Is there a 3 way circuit somewhere?

Ayuh,... If it's a 12v blower, 'n both switches feed from the same battery system,..

If Either switch supplies power, the blower runs....

Check the power To, 'n From the faulty switch...
If power is showing, then trace the wire to the blower...

Here is an example of a three way system: Replace the light in the diagram with the blower motor. This system allows turning the circuit on from one end and off from the other or vice versa.

did the switch on the unit ever work ? if not it could have been disconnected and re wired to the console...It may just be two switches in parallel not as above.. if there are only two wires to the switch its a simle on off switch

You cannot check the power at the switch only the voltage .( dont you wish people would use the right terminology ).with the unit switch ON you should have 12v on both terminals and if you have check the cable to the blower.

Why is using "power" as a generic term for the presence of "voltage" or checking to see if a circuit is "powered" such a problem for you? The term "Power Outage", not "voltage outage" or "amperage outage" was used in the Steelers/Patriots game last evening and did not raise the ire of electrical engineers nationwide. I suspect even you respond with -- "oops we have a power outage" when your electric utility has an outage.

Ayuh,... Considerin' most boaters use a test light to check for Power at any 1 point,...

Does it really matter the words I choose to illustrate the sequence for testing...
If there's No Power,...
It'll be lackin' both Voltage, 'n Amperage... aka; No POWER...

Can you turn on the helm switch....with the panel switch off....and run the blower?

Probably not. The panel switch is probably just a breaker that feeds the helm switch.

If we continue to use sloppy terminology then the young will never get educated and again use sloppy terminology...like ..a gearboox increases power to the wheels ...which it does not ....just because the ignorant are sloppy does not mean its acceptable here ...

instantaneous electrical power P delivered to a component is given by
f3e5a5e2850f0b231b28d1dfe19302c3.png
where
P(t) is the instantaneous power, measured in watts (joules per second)V(t) is the potential difference (or voltage drop) across the component, measured in voltsI(t) is the current through it, measured in amperes

See what power covers.....

Shall we get back on topic?

One should be very careful about calling others "sloppy". So just what is a "gearBOOX" -- oh yes, we get the message and you were just sloppy. In various parts of the world a gearbox is also called a transmission or tranny. The charge that "ignorant are sloppy" is a real slap to those who are electrically challenged to some degree and come to this forum for help. You owe them an apology. The moderators dictate what is or is not acceptable "here." Finally, one should not be required to have an electrical degree to post a question here and get a reasonable answer. Helping them is one thing. Demanding that they always use proper terminology is unreasonable. Does it help? Certainly? Details regarding the problem are far more important than terminology disputes/demands.

Re: Genny Blower Wiring Method

Here is what I know: Both blowers turn on with the helm switch on regardless of the blower switch position (on or off) at my electrical panel. Both the blowers have a yellow and black wire connected. The helm and power panel switches have yellow wires. The panel switch gets voltage (via test light) across the pole. I purchased the boat used and have no idea if it ever worked.

I'm hoping someone can provide trouble shooting options.

Ayuh,... As noted before,... Chase down the wire from that switch, to the blower....

Re: Genny Blower Wiring Method

I also have a panel switch for a generator room and engine room blower. My panel switch activates a temp sensor located near the blower. When the room reaches the temp setting on the sensor, the blower turns on. My helm switch overides the sensor, thus turning the blower on.

Take Bond-O's advice........and Good Luck!
