I'm about to order the rebuild kit for the carb. The carb has received a full thorough cleaning and 24+ hour soak. Followed by another carb spray clean and finally compressed air.

A few questions:

1. On the slow speed needle port, there is a "packing" material that had to be removed. Its like paper. The stuff just crumbled. The rebuild kit seems to have several of these in it. Hard to tell in the picture. If it comes with more than one, how many do I put in before the bolt+needle?

2. I'm replacing all the fuel lines as well. Should I add a inline fuel filter after the primer bulb? I've researched and see mixed results. Some say no. Some say yes, but dont use a paper filter. Others say paper filters are just fine. Opinion?

3. Finally, whats your maintenance/storage method after each run? Do you pull the fuel line and let the engine suck all the remaining fuel up? Do you drain the bowl? Any additives?

Ignition system is next. Impeller actually looks very good/new and the float is not the original and gaskets look good. It really looks like someone did maintenance on this at some point and didnt use it much after.

Two packings on the needle, plus the plastic washer. It already has a filter screen in the tank and another in the fuel pump cover. That should be enough. If not, get a tank that is not full of crud.

re. 1 -- open up the idle passage under the aluminum fitting on top, and clean it out (will need a replacement cap from the kit). Look for bits and pieces from old packing.
